Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. As we live into that mission, we have a few "valuables" we will never leave behind that shape every decision we make. They reflect who we have discerned God wants us to be. If you want to see these values in action, explore How We Serve to see how you might join with us.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against things like this. those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified self with its passions and desires.
If we live by the Spirit, let's follow the Spirit. Let's not become arrogant, make each other angry, or be jealous of each other.
Why do you call me "Lord, Lord" and don't do what I say? I'll show what its like when someone comes to me, hears my words, and puts them into practice. It's like a person building a house by digging deep and laying the foundation on bedrock. When the flood came, the rising water smashed against that house, but the water couldn't shake the house because it was well built. But those who don't put into practice what they hear are like a person who built a house without a foundation. The floodwater smashed against it and it collapsed instantly. It was completely destroyed.
Christ is just like the human body - a body is a unit and has many parts; and all the parts of the body are one body, even though there are many. We were all baptized by one Spirit into one body, whether Jew or Greek, or slave or free, and we all were given one Spirit to drink. Certainly the body isn't one part but many.
1 Corinthians 12:12-14
The believers devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, to the community, to their shared meals, and to their prayers. A sense of awe come over everyone. God performed many wonders and signs through the apostles. All the believers were united and shared everything. They would sell pieces of property and possessions and distribute the proceeds to everyone who needed them. Every day, they met together in the temple and ate in their homes. They shared food with gladness and simplicity. They praised God and demonstrated God's goodness to everyone. The Lord added daily to the community those who were being saved.
